Ever opened the fridge and realized you needed to use those peppers sitting in your crisper? This recipe came from just that experience. The Poblano peppers add a soft heat to this soup and make a nice visual contrast to the white beans and chicken sausage. Perfect for a snowy, rainy spring day, this soup is a good slow cooker recipe. Thanksgiving will soon be upon us. If you are looking for a place to go this year, there are plenty of choices where the turkey is king, but not the only bird at table. Restaurants throughout DC are preparing dinners with a wealth of culinary offerings.

The owner, Clive Hutchens (a Kiwi), was honored in New Zealand as its 1988 Chef of the Year. From there he worked as a sous chef in London before moving to Berkeley where he founded CW Catering. An easy way to prepare leg of lamb is rubbing with herbs. Use a 5-7 pound leg of lamb. There's a thin layer on the outer surface of the meat to remove and trim the fat from it. Combine the herbs and rub over the meat thoroughly. Place in a roasting pan and cook at 325F oven for 2-3 hours for medium (160F on a meat thermometer, or to 170F for well done. Let the leg of lamb rest for 15 minutes before carving.
